The Monthly planner sheet is designed to help you design an overview of the month ahead.

Choose the S.M.A.R.T. Goals you wish to focus on for the month, plan out your top 3 S.M.A.R.T. Goals for each week, and note any key Action Steps to focus on, as well.

At the end of each month write a journal entry recapping the progress, roadblocks, and notable events.

Break it down

Step 1: Write the month and period

The first part is easy, write the name of the month that this Period pertains to.

The second part is to circle the Period (think hockey of the 3 month cycle that pertains to this month.

The Happiness Plan is designed to run in 3 month cycles. Is this the first, second, or third month in the cycle?

Step 2: Choose 3 S.M.A.R.T. Goals to focus on this month

You have 5 S.M.A.R.T. Goal Priorities for the entire 3 month cycle. Each month we want to narrow that focus a bit more and give them a little more attention.

Choose up to 3 S.M.A.R.T. Goals and put the most important one on the top.

Focus your energy mainly on the top priority. Choosing the other 2 gives you flexibility if you want to spread your time a little more evenly.

Step 3: Make note of important action steps

Some of our Action Steps might have deadlines or some form of time sensitive need. Make note of those here.

This is also a good place to make note of your highest priority Action Steps for this month even if they don’t have a deadline.

Step 4: plan out your weekly goal focus

Prioritize your S.M.A.R.T. Goal Priorities for each week. Often times this will be the same for the entire month, and that’s perfectly normal. Sometimes, we need to shift our focus and this is a good place to make note of this ahead of time.

Step 5: end of month review

At the end of each month we want to assess our progress and make note of anything important that happened during the month.

We’ll use this at the end of each 3 month Happiness Plan cycle Review session.
